Knock at the Cabin


Basically: A home invasion descends into horror and madness, asking the impossible question: Who would you sacrifice to save the world? Eric (Jonathan Groff) and Andrew (Ben Aldridge) are a married couple with an adopted daughter, Wen (Kristen Cui). On vacation at a remote lakeside cabin, Wen is happily catching and studying grasshoppers when an imposing figure emerges from the surrounding forest. He sits and talks with the girl, identifying himself as Leonard (Dave Bautista). AAPI Representation in Hollywood


Last year a report from USC brought to light that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders make up less than 6% of speaking roles in the entertainment industry and 4% of lead roles. The study looked at 13,000 popular films and found that of the 4% with AAPI leads, only 6 were women, 0 were women over 40, 0 were in the LGBTQ+ community, and 14 were Dwayne Johnson. 20-year-old Sophia Marie has her plate full! She’s just released her first single, “Venice Beach to D.C.,” to capture her experience of moving from laid-back California to the (at times) pompous streets of Washington D.C. Sophia is currently attending Georgetown University studying International Politics. Her story is finding a balance between her love of creating and exploring the world. We had a great conversation about the growing pains of discovering your passion while not limiting your curiosities.
