Sophia Marie


20-year-old Sophia Marie has her plate full! She’s just released her first single, “Venice Beach to D.C.,” to capture her experience of moving from laid-back California to the (at times) pompous streets of Washington D.C. Sophia is currently attending Georgetown University studying International Politics. Her story is finding a balance between her love of creating and exploring the world. We had a great conversation about the growing pains of discovering your passion while not limiting your curiosities.

Film Review: Parallel Mothers


Basically: A tale of friendship between two women who meet while giving birth in the hospital. I honestly don’t know how to write about this film. Pedro Almodóvar isn’t the type of filmmaker you get from the States or the UK where films tend to follow a simple format about a particular subject that goes from A to B to C etc. I first discovered Almodóvar in the 2000s, while I was in my twenties, and his multilayered stories about women were something I’d never experienced before.
