Canadian alt-rockers, The Beaches have dropped a brand new single today, “Blame Brett” and announced their forthcoming sophomore LP Blame My Ex due out September 15th. The new track is extremely cheeky to say the least. The Beaches give a new perspective to the break-up anthem by being equally parts funny, mournful, and scathing. They sing “So sorry in advance / Before you take off your pants / I wouldn’t let me meet your friends / I wouldn’t let me near your dad”. They continue with the line “Don’t blame me, blame Brett / Blame my ex”. Pretty hilarious right?… Read more »
Following the release of her debut solo single, Jen Razavi, the co-frontwoman of The Bombpops, has issued the accompanying music video for “Saw In Half.” Razavi‘s debut track, produced by Will Yip (known for his work with Circa Survive, Turnstile, and La Dispute), is a hauntingly atmospheric showcase that beautifully draws out her tenderness and vulnerability. Further cementing the line, “Lovely assistant to the stage/Here’s a trick, we call it heartbreak,” the cinematic visual for “Saw In Half” metaphorically analyzes a failing relationship comparing it to the toxic one-sideness between a magician and their assistant. Razavi is acting as the… Read more »

Ahead of her soon-to-be-iconic performance supporting Iggy Pop in Las Vegas at The Pearl Theatre on April 29, Grace McKagan has issued a music video for her hypnotizing “Call Me Back (When I’m Dead).” Highlighted by a sensational bassline and McKagan’s 60s meets early aughts style of rock ‘n’ roll/pop-punk/alt-pop vocal fusion, “Call Me Back (When I’m Dead)” feels like it houses an old soul of its own. The visual for the recently released track complements its memorizing vibe, mixing close-up shoots of McKagan with blurry overlays that capture the somber yet introspective nature of the tune. Lyrically, “Call Me… Read more »
Say Anything are back together and have released a brand new track, “Psyche!” Today. They are a band that have always done things differently than everyone else. They stuck out like a sore thumb in the scene since their inception in a beautifully unique and transparently broken way. Max Bemis is a genius to say the least and you won’t find another project quite like his. Hell, their first full-length album, …Is A Real Boy, was intended to be a performative musical that transformed into a two-part melodic odyssey. With spoken word interludes, triumphant and drastic sonic changes within each… Read more »

Queer Boston-based four-piece shallow pools have launched their fresh single “IHYK” via Equal Vision Records. The new release follows their previous singles “Now Or Never” and “Say What You Want,” which were co-written with groundbreaking LGBTQIA+ artist Lynn Gunn of PVRIS. “IHYK” is showcased by an infectious, earworm chorus highlighted by vocalist Glynnis Brennan’s passionate delivery flourishing across crisp guitar riffs courtesy of guitarist Jess Gromada. However, it’s drummer Ali Ajemian’s intricate fills and lively that drive the track forward complemented seamlessly by bassist Haley Senft’s groovy rhythms. Together, the group demonstrates their exceptional musicianship and ability to craft memorable… Read more »
