Earlier this month, tabloids began reporting that Katy Perry and Rihanna had become “inseparable” following the alleged February 8 altercation between the “Umbrella” singer and her boyfriend, Chris Brown. According to a source quoted by U.K. tabloid The Sun, Perry “was there when Rihanna needed her the most,” reaching out to her and taking her out for nights on the town (there were even rumors of a planned Puerto Rican vacation). Until now, Perry had remained silent on those reports, but when MTV News caught up with her on Wednesday, she talked about her relationship with the embattled pop star.… Read more »
The news about Chris Brown’s alleged assault on girlfriend Rihanna has clearly touched a nerve with the public. The range of emotions runs the gamut, from those agreeing that Rihanna should not be made a scapegoat in this saga, to others begging for a story about how, “media commonly condemns celebs before all the facts are out or before they have been convicted.” Brown, 19, turned himself in and was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats in the incident, though the District Attorney’s office kicked the case back to the police on Wednesday asking for more evidence. There were… Read more »
Southern California ska-punk stalwart Reel Big Fish has been blazing a trail of angst-filled, shenanigan-loaded rock for 15 years now. And it seems their legendary summer treks are always a rite of passage for fans. This summer will be no different when the band takes its hi-jinx brand of ska/punk rock to the main stage of the Vans Warped Tour on a daily basis. Touring in support of their self-produced Monkeys For Nothin’ And The Chimps For Free release, singer Aaron Barrett is anxious to hit the road. ” We can’t wait to get back out on tour and get… Read more »
At some point, Cobra Starship mastermind Gabe Saporta is really gonna have to decide if having a keytar player in his band is worth it. Sure, the keytar is totally awesome – name another instrument good enough for Donald Fagen, Prince and “Weird” Al Yankovic – but in getting to the bottom of the Starship’s split with ‘tar player Elisa Schwartz (a less-than-harmonious parting of ways involving stolen iPods, clandestine spa sessions and late-night Britney Spears-fueled dance parties) you start to wonder if perhaps Saporta would be better off having never hired a keytar player in the first place. “The… Read more »
Los Angeles – Academia’s loss is heavy metal’s gain. Ian Kilmister, a.k.a. Lemmy, the frontman for Grammy-winning English rock trio Motorhead, could have made a stimulating history professor, sharing his begrudging admiration for Goering and disdain for “bastards” like Hitler and Roosevelt with eager students. Instead, the 59-year-old achieved cult fame with generations of headbangers by singing and writing furious anthems like “Killed By Death” and “Orgasmatron.” But he remains fascinated by World War II and he spends his money collecting Nazi memorabilia, which is piled high in his two-bedroom apartment off the Sunset Strip. “I was born in ’45,… Read more »
