A lot of life has happened in the past ten years. Just think about everything that has consumed the world since 2005—graduations, weddings, the rise of the smartphone, and an entire language understood only by twelve year olds (**insert fourteen emoticons to thank Instagram here**).

Electronic dance music and punk rock may not seem like two peas in a pod, but they’re similar in more ways than you’d think. Structurally, EDM shares the same elements of punk music—both are fast paced, melodic, and employ catchy, memorable riffs.
Reckless Serenade are back with a self-released EP dropping September 18th, Out Here. The EP is filled with five consecutive “stuck in your head†songs that push the limits of the defined genres in this scene.
(Un)covered is idobi’s exclusive take on the world’s best cover songs. “Runaway Baby” Writers: Bruno Mars, Brody Brown Original Release Date: February 15, 2012 I remember hearing his perfectly smooth vocals for the first time featured on Travie McCoy’s single “Billionaire.” Now, Bruno Mars is a household name and a prominent player in my pop music addiction. I’m still spinning “Uptown Funk.” This week, we’re looking back at a song from Mars’ debut album Doo Wops and Hooligans, “Runaway Baby.” Heavy on the bass line and snazzy vocals, Mars’s song is an upbeat, groovy kind of pop that will easily… Read more »

TheBillboardChart Needs a Streaming Makeover With All Time Low’s number one album debut debunked by the new Billboard standard, many people in our scene posed the question if we need to rethink the way Billboard included streaming into it’s tallies. Right now, every 1,500 streams of a song off an album = 1 album sale. Thomas Nassiff of Absolutepunk wrote a wonderful short piece on the matter. In my opinion, it’s crap. A successful single does not an album make. If that were true, Vanilla Ice would have probably been much more successful and have never gotten arrested for stealing.… Read more »
