NOW Trending: Boy fight

It sounds like The Onion but no. Kids, this one is fresh off the playground…if there was a bar called the playground. Schoolyard fights escalate to bar fights when you’re a famous musician.

SXSW 2015 Diary: A Subculture in Search of a Subculture

Thursday, March 19th I flew into South by Southwest this afternoon. Tonight, I strode 6th Street. amid the scene here in Austin. I felt a tension between, and within, the musicians, attendees, and the city. The dichotomy is an inclination toward indie values, opposed by the gravitation of commercialism. I realize this as I happen on IFC’s Fairgrounds, which features a music stage, interactive attractions such as a Velcro wall, and food trucks and a beer stand. It’s like a festival within a festival and it is a microcosm of SXSW. It’s an insular fantasy realm manifested by marketers and… Read more »

Music for the Moments When… It’s a Ron Swanson Kind of Day

It’s Monday morning. The thought of getting out of bed makes you want to punch a hole in the wall. There’s no bacon or eggs for breakfast, your ex won’t stop calling, and your overly cheerful co-worker won’t stop chatting your ear off about some “super fun-tastic!” projects. If any of this applies to you, you just might be having a Ron Swanson kind of day. He discussed the different age groups and life changes. It’s a wonderful speech for people who are getting too old for things like Warped Tour and Cochella. Basically, you get to see, again, why Kevin Lyman is so fan-freaking-tastic.… Read more »

Travis Barker Did A Thing And I’m Happy About It This will be the thrilling sequel to the book series I decided to start last week. But no, Travis deserves all the candy and flowers in the world for finally saying what we’ve all been thinking… Tom Delonge uses pro-tools and needs to grow a pair and quit. Beyond that, Travis’s interview with Alternative Nation was a thrilling, and exciting look into the future of Blink-182, hopefully with Matt Skiba, and what he’s doing on the side. I think this new Blink album is going to be one of their… Read more »
