Emo Styles Ranked: From Shutter Shades to Flannels

It was never a phase. However, which phase are we talking about exactly? Truth be told, the evolution of the emo style had many, many phases. We know we were never the jocks, the preps, or the bookworms. But we certainly had something going on, and it was developing alongside the bands we loved. Sometimes we were in all black, and surprisingly, sometimes, we were in pink and yellow. Beanies may have been really tiny, and other times very baggy and oversized. Emo fashion means something different for everyone. We thought it would be fun to rank the different ways… Read more »

The Maine Share Beautiful Cover Of Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer”

Our favorite Arizona band, The Maine have shared an incredible cover of “Cruel Summer” from Taylor Swift’s Lover album. The cover starts with soft, roomy guitars before pushing forward into a synth-driven chorus. John O’Callaghans vocals are somber and beautiful as always. This is a cover we never knew we needed, but are so grateful for. The Maine have also recently announced that they will be re-recording their sophomore album, Black & White. In true Taylor Swift inspired fashion, they are doing this in order to re-claim the record, as it was their only major label release. The Maine’s vocalist John… Read more »

Speaking on topics like sexual assault, domestic abuse, anarchism, and female empowerment, the movement was much… Read more »

Royal & the Serpent has vowed to deliver double-sided singles all throughout the summer. Today she gifts us with RAT TRAP 2: the burn, the second installment of this unique release cycle. Brand new tracks, “JUNKIE” and “SLUG” are the pairing to hit our speakers on this lovely Friday. “JUNKIE” starts off with stripped-back acoustic guitars and soft vocals, oozing with a late 90’s singer/songwriter vibe. Of course, in classic Royal fashion, it kicks in for a full band chorus. “SLUG” is a little more upbeat throughout, driven by groovy drums and a raspy vocal delivery. The bridge is totally… Read more »
