This week we chinwag about the benefits of having a Music Business degree, especially as an artist. Afterward with chat with singer/songwriter MEIA. Born and raised in Cleveland, OH, MEIA knew she wanted music to be part of her life from the beginning. She started singing, writing music and playing instruments ever since she was a little girl. “My mom would tell you I was humming before I was singing and dancing to every beat. My first experience writing a song was when I was 8 years old, lol. It was called “Let it out” and it was about being unafraid to say how you feel. Looking back on the concept and my ability to turn a feeling into art – I am proud of baby MEIA.”. Once she turned 18, she moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University where she studied Music Business and pursued her artist project, MEIA. MEIA grew up loving alternative pop culture. The 90’s baby listened to various artists such as Britney Spears, Rihanna and Avril Lavigne, which have had a huge influence on the music she loves to create. Now residing in Nashville, she writes from personal experience and is unafraid to be raw, emotional, and real. She empowers her fans by turning dark situations into light, especially with her breakup anthems. MEIA is wildly independent, fiercely in touch with her femininity, and wants her fans to be able to escape the world when listening to her songs. MEIA has shared the stage with Why Don’t We, Spencer Sutherland, Eben, Jake Miller, and more.
