Last week we published our official top albums of 2013 list, featuring everyone from The Wonder Years and Fall Out Boy to The 1975 and Vampire Weekend. Lots of complicated math and science were involved in calculating the final list, but we thought we’d let you have a look at all of our individual staff lists as well.
One listen to Driver Friendly’s latest EP, Peaks + Valleys, and you’ll know why the band is gaining momentum like they are. The six songs on the EP are short and sweet, but are chock full of energy, passion, and a whole lot of fun.
U2 stars Bono and The Edge showed up unannounced and played as a warmup act at a charity concert in London. The show delighted the 250 people who attended the fundraiser on Friday night for Mencap, a charity that campaigns for equal rights for children and adults with learning disabilities. “Don’t tell Larry (Mullen) and Adam (Clayton) we’ve done this,” Bono joked about his other two band mates from the small stage at London’s Union Chapel. When an event has been around for 13 years, it’s usually time to shake things up. And while Ozzfest chose to do that by going free, the Vans Warped tour opted to piece together one of its most diverse rosters to date. The tour, which will kick off June 28 at Chula Vista, California’s Coors Amphitheater, is currently slated to play 45 shows through an August 25 date in Los Angeles with a lineup that includes Coheed and Cambria, Bad Religion, New Found Glory, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Cute Is What We Aim For, Bayside and Canadian rapper K-os.
