Grade: C+ Basically: A harsh slice of the truth about being Black in America. In reflecting on the Netflix adaptation of American Son, I’m reminded of a line from A Few Good Men, “you can’t handle the truth.” I’m not being glib. This one is all about hard truths. And by maintaining the four-actor, stormy night, one-room structure of the Broadway play, the film focuses you on its honesty in a way that may be hard to take in. Or, worse, easy to dismiss. But try not to do that. Playwright Christopher Demos-Brown and Tony Award® winning director Kenny Leon… Read more »
A new version of the Addams Family for a new generation.
Excitement is buzzing after the announcement of the cast for Jurassic World 3: Extinction. Legendary rocker Derek Smalls has released another musical gem along with an enticing visual treat. “Gimme Some (More) Money” is the latest hot track from the scorching rock song-smith. Smalls has long since left behind his days with the band formerly known as Spinal Tap after their painful to witness downfall. While the band made attempts to grasp at their forgotten glory, Smalls was steady rocking on. His most recent effort was so anticipated he couldn’t have kept other superstars off the track if he had wanted! The song features Waddy Wadel, David Crosby, Paul Schaffer, and Jim Keltner. Netflix’s Big Mouth season 3 returns right on time October 4, 2019. The popular show, created by Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg, dives deep into the awkward, gross struggle of adolescence. The show, which debuted on Netflix in 2017, has developed a massive following. Characters Andrew, Nick, Jessi, Missy, Jay and company, are subjected to the wonders and horrors of puberty while the audience has a laugh at the cringe. Voiced by the current varsity team of comedy, the show is probably the funniest thing you can watch right now. Season three promises to be equal parts shock and aww.… Read more »
