My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has spoken directly to fans about the problem of anti-emo related violence in Mexico. Tensions have escalated in the country over recent months with a series of reported attacks against people who have “an emo look”. Gerard Way's Brother Leaves My Chemical Romance


My Chemical Romance bassist Mikey Way is temporarily leaving the band to spend time with his new wife. The band will continue with a replacement. Mikey was married on March 8 to fiance Alicia Simmons at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Way’s brother and My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard served as best man. TV on the Radio’s Gerard Smith Dies of Lung Cancer


TV on the Radio bassist Gerard Smith has died of lung cancer, the band announced on its official website Wednesday.

“We are very sad to announce the death of our beloved friend and bandmate, Gerard Smith, following a courageous fight against lung cancer,” the band’s statement reads. “Gerard passed away the morning of April 20th, 2011. We will miss him terribly.”

There’s something strange about Gerard Way up there in the spotlight, something new. It’s not just that the My Chemical Romance frontman has traded his usual elaborately layered stage outfits for snug black jeans and a shredded black T-shirt, revealing a torso that’s gone from chubby to Bowie-in-Berlin gaunt. It’s not just that he’s dyed his once-dark chin-length hair a crazed-clown red — a look that Way, 33, also rocked in his pre-fame teenage years, inspired by Kurt Cobain and Wayne Coyne.
