In honor of Hopeless Records turning 30, Scene Queen has covered “The Best Thing (That Never Happened)” by We Are The In Crowd for the label’s Hopelessly Devoted To You compilation album. The song originally appeared on We Are The In Crowd‘s 2014 LP Weird Kids.
The compilation will also boast The Wonder Years’ cover of Thrice’s “Deadbolt,” Point North’s cover of Avenged Sevenfold’s “Unholy Confessions,” NOAHFINNCE‘s rendition of Waterparks‘ “I Miss Having Sex But at Least I Don’t Wanna Die Anymore,” and Bayside‘s reworking of The Weakerthans‘ “Aside.” Plus, it features LØLØ‘s cover of New Found Glory‘s “Vicious Love,” Hey Violet‘s and Jayden Seeley‘s Yellowcard cover of “Hang You Up” and Sincere Engineer‘s cover of “I Hate Myself” by 88 Fingers Louie.
In a recent Instagram post, Scene Queen shared that “@tayjardine was one of the first women I ever saw doing what I wanted to do so getting to put my own angry girl spin on this was honestly such an honor.”

She added, “[T]ell your heroes what they mean to you and enjoy side bang era Scene Queen because I tried to bleach my own front pieces like Tay and then they fried so badly I had to get my emo fringe cut into one long bang.”
On top of releasing the forthcoming Hopelessly Devoted To You, Hopeless Records is also hosting a major party at Cleveland’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, and you’re invited. Come out to celebrate the label’s anniversary on August 24 with Waterparks‘ Awsten Knight, Illuminati Hotties, The Wonder Years‘ Dan Campbell, and Scene Queen.
