The Flaming Lips will go from spending “Christmas on Mars“ to Earth Day in Washington, D.C. when they perform a free concert at the National Mall Apr. 19th. Additional bands will take the stage in 10 cities nationwide as part of this year’s Earth Day Network & Green Apple Festival Day. Joining the “Soft Bulletin”  band in the Nation’s Capitol will be moe., Los Lobos, DJ Spooky and emcee Chevy Chase. NEW YORK —  Reunited rockers No Doubt rapper Flo Rida and R&B singer Jennifer Hudson are among the artists headlining the upcoming summer concert series on morning chat show “Today,” NBC announced said on Thursday. Joining them will be the Dave Matthews Band, All-American Rejects, Kings of Leon and Black Eyed Peas among others. Three years ago, Cobra Starship weren’t even a band. Two years ago, they weren’t one either, but at least things were beginning to happen. Gabe Saporta – tired of watching his band Midtown being mired in the major-label quagmire – began writing songs on his own, under the name of Cobra Starship (apparently borrowed from a brand of vintage jackets). Two years after Steve Jobs declared that DRM was dead and a year after Amazon launched its DRM-free download store with all four major labels, the vast majority of tracks on iTunes are still delivered with a little piece of code that restricts transfer and use.
