On the surface Grayscale’s Adornment is a methodical maturation complete with catchy hooks and commanding riffs, but on a deeper level it’s a cathartic release of stories and responses to life that manage to be both personal and universal.
It’s a struggle most of us have experienced with our families, at least to some degree — the parents think the kids’ music is unlistenable garbage, and the kids think their parents’ music was recorded by the first dinosaurs to ever hold guitars. But when you find those rare few bands that occupy the middle ground between everyone’s tastes, it’s a special moment that brings the family together way better than getting a pet fish ever could.
You’ve been crossing off the days on your calendar for months now, and the time is finally almost here – the 2013 edition of the Vans Warped Tour kicks off this Saturday. With so many bands to check out and only so many hours in a day, our writing team has put together a list of our must-see artists on this year’s Warped – some you already love, some you may not have heard yet, but all you should make an effort to see this summer.
The Catalyst Publicity Group & Keep A Breast have teamed up to release Yuletides & Stage Dives, a donation based compilation with all proceeds going to the Keep A Breast Foundation. Bands on the compilation include A Loss For Words, This Century, Driver Friendly, Balance and Composure, Pentimento, Bad Rabbits, and more.
The Used will headline the 2013 Take Action Tour with support from We Came As Romans, Crown The Empire, and Mindflow. In addition to the tour, Sub City/Hopeless Records will release Take Action Volume 11 on January 8th.
Hoping to quell the increasing excitement for the band’s first new music in over three years, Yellowcard have instead poured gasoline on the flames by releasing the new song “For You, And Your Denial” which is streaming exclusively on AbsolutePunk and is up for sale on iTunes and Amazon.
Kings of Leon is “almost finished” with its fifth album, the follow-up to 2008’s platinum and Grammy Award-winning Only by the Night, according to drummer Nathan Followill.
