New Jersey’s volatile, experimentalist rock band Thursday will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its classic, groundbreaking album Full Collapse by kicking off a US tour with friends, Underoath, in January/February where the band will perform the celebrated record in its entirety.
Taking Back Sunday gave its fourth LP a fitting title: New Again. For frontman Adam Lazarra, the addition of guitarist Matt Fazzi last spring has given the five-piece a wildly fresh perspective. Bassist Matt Rubano agrees that the band is embracing a new genre with its new release. “The idea that we’ve really embraced on this record is that it’s up to us to decide what Taking Back Sunday sounds like,” bassist Matt Rubano said. “We always want to be redefining what that means, and there’s stuff on this record I think in the past we would have stayed away… Read more »
The Warped Tour, the annual traveling festival that targets the Vans-wearing, emo-loving youth of America, has recently announced the lineup for their 2009 caravan. As usual (and because the event is celebrating its 15th anniversary), the lineup combines older acts like NOFX, Less Than Jake and Bad Religion with newer artists like 3OH!3 and Black Tide. Other notables on the bill include the hard-rocking Gallows, the Ataris, Thrice, Underoath, Bayside and a bunch of other bands that are currently blasting on Hot Topic stereos. Among the… Read more »
‘The demand of the kids on the Internet made us put them out there,’ organizer Kevin Lyman says. In the end, it was sheer necessity, combined with a whole bunch of demand, that forced Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman to reveal the full list of 2005 dates for the annual trek. Sometimes, marketing plans just go out the window. “We were hoping to hold off announcing the dates until the first of March, but the demand of the kids on the Internet made us put them out there,” Lyman said. “The kids are prodding, they’re on the Web sites. Their… Read more »
For fans of the Warped Tour, the winter months are usually seen as the off-season, a time to buff those Doc Martens or experiment with some Manic Panic variants. But starting in February, the young and spiky will have new reason to rejoice: the Taste of Chaos Tour. Warped founder Kevin Lyman is the mastermind behind the tour, and he’s confirmed both the lineup and the dates for the inaugural jaunt. As previously reported, the Used are locked in to headline, but the rest of the bill has been confirmed, and it’s a harder-edged lineup than Warped fans might be… Read more »
