Is Mary J. Blige aiming for a career makeover? The R&B superstar covered Simon & Garfunkel’s classic pop tune “Bridge Over Troubled Water” at the Grammys on Sunday, and now she’s in the midst of a remake of one of the most iconic hard-rock anthems of all time: Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven.”
Though nearly a year has passed since Blink-182 announced its reunion, the wait for the trio’s next album is not over.
If you thought 2009 was a big year for music, just wait until you see what 2010 has in store.
Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein was laid to rest yesterday with a service at Los Angeles’ Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary. Reports that AM’s former fiancée Nicole Richie and Good Charlotte’s Joel and Benji Madden attended the burial were said to be “inaccurate.” AM’s girlfriend, Hayley Woods, DJ Jazzy Jeff, actor Scott Caan and producer the Alchemist, who reportedly served as a pallbearer, were present at the service. Blink-182’s Travis Barker, whose band had postponed its most recent tour dates so he could mourn the loss of his friend and collaborator, was also in attendance. Barker, who last year survived a… Read more »
After struggling through a concert in Hartford, Conn. Saturday night, Blink-182 has cancelled its Monday night show in upstate New York. “Due to circumstances surrounding the unfortunate and untimely passing of our dear friend Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein, Blink-182 will not be playing tonight in Saratoga, NY at SPAC. Performances by Weezer, Taking Back Sunday and Chester French will take place as planned, along with some special surprises. We thank all of our fans for their support in this tough time,” reads a post on the band’s official Web site. Blink’s next scheduled show is Wednesday in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.… Read more »
HOLLYWOOD – It had been four and a half years since Blink-182 performed together on a stage. A December 2004 gig in Dublin, Ireland was the last time, to be exact. Well, now it’s been not even a week. Last Thursday night, the reunited Blink returned to the stage at a T-Mobile party at the Paramount Studios, ripping through a surprise three-song set before an audience of stunned (and thoroughly hyperventilating) guests. Blink tore through “The Rock Show,” “Feeling This” and “Dammit,” showing no signs of rust or any ill effects of their sometimes contentious breakup as they laughed, struck… Read more »
If it hadn’t been for drummer Travis Barker’s near-fatal airplane crash last year, Blink-182 might not be touring this summer. But after a five-year hiatus, the rock trio — Barker, Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge — will embark on a nearly 50-date North American arena and amphitheater tour, beginning July 24th at the Joint in Las Vegas and wrapping October 3rd at the Borgata Events Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The trek will feature support on various dates from Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, All-American Rejects, Taking Back Sunday, Asher Roth and Chester French. “My goal… Read more »
Blink-182 has already written a number of new songs, but don’t expect the band to deliver a follow-up to its self-titled smash in 2003 before its big reunion tour this summer. “We started writing a few months ago and got well into the writing process, but now we’ve kind of put the recording of the next album on hold and are doing rehearsals for the upcoming tour,” said frontman Mark Hoppus. After a four-year hiatus, Hoppus, Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge appeared onstage at the 2009 Grammy Awards and announced their reformation as Blink-182. Hoppus also has been busy in… Read more »
“We played music together and we decided we’re going to play music together again,” Travis Barker told the Grammy audience when Blink-182 reunited to present the Best Rock Album award Sunday night. For Blink, it was their first time onstage together since December 2004, two months before the band went on an indefinite hiatus. Now that the band has confirmed a new album is in the works, Rolling Stone is taking a look back at their history in a new photo gallery: Blink-182’s Rock Show. Blink-182 formed in 1992 in Poway, California, but it wasn’t until 1998 that guitarist Tom… Read more »
