Two weeks after her arrest on drug charges, Courtney Love was in Los Angeles Juvenile Court on Thursday in an attempt to regain custody of her 11-year-old daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. BMG Releases Its First Commercial Copy-Managed CD in the U.S.


BMG, the worldwide music division of Bertelsmann AG, announced today that Arista Records will be the company’s first label in the U.S. to release a commercial CD using copy management technology. The CD, Comin’ From Where I’m From, by singer-songwriter Anthony Hamilton, will be released nationwide on September 23rd. Sony Corp. plans to launch a music download service in the spring, vice chairman Howard Stringer said Thursday at a gathering of electronics dealers in Paris. Sean Paul Charged With Using Profanity


Jamaican rapper Sean Paul has been charged with using profanity during a performance at Montego Bay’s Reggae Sumfest last week. Paul’s performance Thursday night was laced with expletives, police commander Newton Amos said Monday. Authorities served him with a summons under a law prohibiting people from using profanity in public. He’s scheduled to appear in court Wednesday in Montego Bay, police said. With his lawsuits threatening to outnumber his album releases, Boston leader Tom Scholz has revved up the litigation machine again and is suing his label, Artemis Records, for more than $4 million. Scholz filed suit in New York on Tuesday, claiming that the band’s first album in eight years, 2002’s Corporate America, failed to take off because the label didn’t promote it properly, despite promises that Boston’s fifth album would be a priority. Eve 6 Singer Fined For Nude Escapade


Max Collins, the lead singer for Eve 6, plead guilty on Tuesday (June 3) in front of a Pittsburgh area district justice, to two counts of disorderly conduct in relation to a recent nude escapade, reported the Associated Press. Collins was forced to pay $400 in fines and $114 in court costs, after plea bargaining down initial charges of indecent exposure, for walking around a hotel with nothing but shaving cream on his genitals.
