Even before the doors to the Gramercy Theater opened, it was apparent that this show was going to be an entertaining way to start the weekend.

Not even the high winds or below-freezing temperatures were enough to deter fans from catching the pop-rock-heavy Take Action Tour last Wednesday in Michigan.
The last time Paramore hit the road to support its Brand New Eyes album, it was a less-than-smooth trip.
Friday night’s episode of “The Tonight Show” was Conan O’Brien’s final one after only seven months behind the desk. Tom Hanks, Steve Carell, and Will Ferrell are just a few of the stars who showed up to bid farewell to the late-night host.
Conan O’Brien signed a $45 million deal to leave NBC after refusing to host the “Tonight Show†in a later time period, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Jay Leno will return as host on March 1, NBC said.

Nine Inch Nails began their Wave Goodbye tour with a pair of small venue concerts in New York City this weekend. The group performed Saturday at the Bowery Ballroom and last night at Webster Hall. Just days before Phish embark on their reunion tour, the quartet are releasing a new track titled “Time Turns Elastic,” their first fresh studio recording since their five-year hiatus. In addition, a classical version of the suite debuted with the Orchestra Nashville in September 2008 and was performed in Baltimore last week. The Phish rendition is now available on iTunes, while Trey’s studio version of Time Turns Elastic – along with his original demo – will be released… Read more »
No matter who is crowned the next American Idol on Wednesday night, season eight has already been one for the books. After a wild five months that has included emotional breakdowns from near-finalists, a comedian/singer who almost crashed the top 13 with his over-the-top shtick, the first top 13, a wild card round, a judges’ save and some serious bickering in the expanded judging panel, you’d think that whatever happens on the finale would be anticlimactic. But thanks to the surprise exit of early favorite Danny Gokey last week, tonight’s sing-off between Kris Allen and Adam Lambert has injected some… Read more »
Death Cab for Cutie kicked off its U.S. tour last night with a stop at Philadelphia’s Tower Theater, a converted movie house with acoustics ready-made for frontman Ben Gibbard’s supernaturally clean and earnest whisper. Gibbard, recently engaged to fellow indie icon Zooey Deschanel, took the stage after solid performances from opening acts Cold War Kids and Ra Ra Riot and delivered an intimate solo rendition of “I Will Follow You Into the Dark” to a quiet, seated crowd. The rest of the band emerged and hit their stride with “The New Year,” a cut off of 2003’s “Transatlanticism” that ended… Read more »
