Twenty One Pilots Debuted At Number One And My Heart Is Soaring Last week Twenty One Pilots released their second full-length album, Blurryface, which I have not stopped listening to, and they also became the second band from our scene this year to have a number one album (debuting as number one on Billboard). It’s hard to find two dudes more deserving of that honor than Tyler and Josh, who when they found out, took to the internet to completely dedicate their success to their fans and their skeletonclique. As someone who grew up in Ohio, I couldn’t be more… Read more »
Excuse the Emo Revival, But Acceptance Released a New Song If you’re a newby in this scene, the name Acceptance might not ring too many bells for you. You might have heard them on “Outlines” on All Time Low’s 2012 LP Don’t Panic. But, what you should know is that these guys released one of the best albums ever, Phantoms. It was their only full-length release, and one that marked the first generation of underground pop-punk/emo breaching the mainstream wall. Dig around for a song called “So Contagious”, because it’s perfect and probably familiar. And now, after 10 years they… Read more »
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cw5nZeptzEU Montage of Heck aired on HBO yesterday and it made me feel so many things. Even now, I’m struggling to get the words out. I want to make something clear before I continue: this is not about me. This is not about MY experience with Nirvana. This is not how I found out when Kurt Cobain died. This is about, after twenty-something years of avoiding everything Kurt post-mortem, that I was finally able to look into a deceased person’s life and I saw something I’d never seen before. I never read his diaries. I’ve barely listened to Nirvana since… Read more »
TheBillboardChart Needs a Streaming Makeover With All Time Low’s number one album debut debunked by the new Billboard standard, many people in our scene posed the question if we need to rethink the way Billboard included streaming into it’s tallies. Right now, every 1,500 streams of a song off an album = 1 album sale. Thomas Nassiff of Absolutepunk wrote a wonderful short piece on the matter. In my opinion, it’s crap. A successful single does not an album make. If that were true, Vanilla Ice would have probably been much more successful and have never gotten arrested for stealing.… Read more »
Blending the perfect bits of Pinback, Q And Not U, Cap N’ Jazz, and their own personal driving, noted, guitar charged breakdowns—we can’t get enough of Dryjacket’s latest EP.
Tom Delonge Released A New Video And I’m Done I’m not going to get over it. I will never let go. The music is supposedly supposed to be meant as a Blink-182 track, and the video is filled with anger directed a drum sets and a bass guitar! Real subtle, DeLonge. Seriously considering getting him a kiddie pool for all of his tears at this point. In all honesty, it’s just bad form to force your band’s hand and then come out with a music video that seems as if you are blaming them completely. I tried to watch the… Read more »
