The Projekt Revolution Tour was launched by Linkin Park in 2002 to showcase a diverse range of acts and to turn the band’s fans on to music they might not normally listen to. This year the Revolution will be even more diverse, thanks to the addition of a second stage. This year is a milestone for the Vans Warped Tour, as the hard rocking fest enters its tenth year of carrying the post-punk banner. The Fight (from Dudley in the West Midlands) are back in the UK after touring the USA since January, to support US punk band ‘Rancid’. The Fight met up with Rancid’s lead singer Tim Armstrong whilst performing the Californian leg of the Vans Warped Tour, where he asked them to support Rancid on their tour of the UK. They will be playing major venues throughout England, Scotland and Ireland, many of which are already sold out. Tickets for the Vans Warped Tour are set to go on pre-sale starting Thursday, March 6 at 9:00 p.m. ET. The first 1,000 fans who purchase tickets for the traveling tour will receive a copy of the 2003 Vans Warped Tour double CD compilation, which features songs from bands on this year’s festival. The CD is distributed through Sideonedummy Records. The tour starts June 19 in Boise, Idaho and wraps up August 10 in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Jay-Z and 311 headline the Sprite Liquid Mix Tour, which kicks off Tuesday (August 20) at Wantagh, New York’s Jones Beach Amphitheater. Others on the bill include Nonpoint, Hoobastank, Nappy Roots, N.E.R.D., and Talib Kweli. Twelve hours, four stages and more than 40 bands marked the end of the three-day Skate and Surf Festival on Sunday. Held at the Asbury Park Convention Hall, the second installment of the now annual event featured performances from Bouncing Souls, Face to Face and the Descendents, among many others.
