Nearly half of the short films being screened at this month’s Sundance Film Festival will be available for purchase at Apple’s iTunes store under a deal announced Friday. The digital downloads will supplement the free streaming at Sundance’s Web site, which will offer the shorts for only a three-month period beginning Jan. 18, the start of the festival in Park City, Utah. You can’t blame U2’s concert promoter for wondering just how big the band’s Vertigo world tour could have been if it had simply kept on playing. After all, not one ticket went unsold for the 131 shows on the trek, which began March 28, 2005, in San Diego and wrapped December 9 in front of 47,000 fans at Honolulu’s Aloha Stadium. Miami – The glitz and glam of the MTV Video Music Awards are returning to sunny Miami for the second straight year, the network said Tuesday. MTV said it was seeking to repeat the success of last year’s show, which featured arrivals by yacht by stars such as Shaquille O’Neal and Usher, an appearance by the Kerry and Bush sisters and a tribute to Ray Charles. PORTLAND, Ore. – A man who plowed his Lincoln Navigator into four security guards at a Prince concert last year was sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison. Omar Rodriguez, 23, of Oregon City, was sentenced Tuesday after a Multnomah County Circuit Court jury convicted him of assault, hit-and-run and reckless endangerment. He was acquitted of attempted murder in the Sept. 1, 2004 incident. During his trial, Rodriguez acknowledged he had been drunk on Remy Martin cognac the day of the accident. Maybe Velvet Revolver can use that Best Hard Rock Performance Grammy as a hood ornament on their tour bus on the upcoming Electric Wonderland Show Tour. The veteran rockers will kick off their latest round of North American stops on March 22 in Montreal, with arena dates currently slated to run through a May 25 show in Miami, according to a spokesperson for the group. Yellowcard singer Ryan Key and his brand-new roommate – bassist Pete Mosely – recently witnessed something they had never seen before: an honest-to-goodness blizzard.
