Phish Bassist Gordon Cleared

Phish’s Mike Gordon was cleared of child endangerment charges this morning, more than a month after the bassist was found alone with a nine-year-old girl in a boathouse during a concert by the Dead at Jones Beach Amphitheater in Wantagh, New York. “I am glad all the charges against me have been dismissed and I can put this misunderstanding behind me,” he said in a statement. “I am grateful for the support I’ve received from my friends and fans.” After the August 11th incident Gordon, 38, claimed that he was taking art pictures of the girl. Fred Durst Talks More Trash About Britney, Borland

Despite an apparent cease-fire to the mudslinging between Fred Durst and Britney Spears, the Limp Bizkit frontman just can’t seem to say enough about the sexy singer. Onstage Saturday at a free concert in London’s Finsbury Park, Durst introduced the tune “Break Stuff” by taking a swipe at the pop star. At the opening of the Significant Other single with the prophetic line, “It’s all about the he said, she said bullsh-,” Durst made his proclamation. “How many people out there have had one of those f–ed-up days?” he asked the crowd. “I can remember quite a few f–ed-up days… Read more »

Linkin Park Singer Recovers From Illness In Time To Check Out Girls Going Wild

Every night on the Summer Sanitarium Tour, Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington is tearing it up, just as he swore he would. There was a time, though, when it looked like he might have to break his promise. Less than six weeks ago, Bennington was checked into a Los Angeles hospital with severe back and stomach pains, and doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him. “Thank God it’s over,” he said backstage before a recent performance in Philadelphia. “There’s nothing more depressing than a hospital room, with crap hanging out of your arms. They still don’t know what… Read more »

R. Kelly Barred From Attending Los Angeles Video Shoot

A Chicago judge has barred singer R. Kelly from attending a Los Angeles video shoot, but the judge said on Wednesday (June 4) that he would permit the R&B superstar to travel to Los Angeles for the third annual BET Awards on June 24. Kelly has not been allowed to leave the Chicago area without permission from the court since he was indicted on June 5, 2002, after a video tape surfaced that allegedly showed the singer having sex with an underage girl. The judge also allowed Kelly to travel to Dallas for a charity concert for the families of… Read more »

Pop punks drop a rock on Orange County girls – Review

At the very least, give credit to New Found Glory and Good Charlotte for getting teenage girls enthusiastic about rock that has real guitars and real drums. More than that, those two pop-punk bands deserve to be saluted for the energy and enthusiasm they displayed at their show Wednesday night at the University of California, Irvine’s Bren Events Center. But no one can applaud them for nuance or finesse. Their performances are like this: Go from zero to 60 in 6.5 seconds, and keep it there. The kids who filled the Bren Center loved it. They screamed, sang along (especially… Read more »

Michelle Branch Ignores Sophomore Jinx Like She Ignored Death Threats

When her new album, Hotel Paper, hits stores June 24, Michelle Branch wants you to remember what Aaliyah said almost a decade ago: Age ain’t nothing but a number. “I just want [people] to actually listen to the record and, I guess, give me a chance,” the 19-year-old singer said recently. “I don’t know, younger artists, people kind of write us off as being this novelty kind of thing, and people forget that George Harrison was 17 when he was in the Beatles, U2 was my age… the Rolling Stones, everyone. It doesn’t matter how old you are, it shouldn’t… Read more »

T.A.t.U Barred From Red Square Filming

They’re the first Russian pop sensation to top music charts worldwide, but Moscow police weren’t having any of it. Authorities barred the Russian pop duo t.A.t.U. Thursday from filming their new video on Red Square. Several hundred fans – many dressed in the skimpy schoolgirl uniforms favored by the duo – turned up to act as extras in what was supposed to be the band’s video for the Eurovision song contest. But instead, Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova, both 18, barely emerged from their trailer. “It looks like Russia does not care for t.A.t.U. representing its country,” said their producer,… Read more »

All-American Rejects Give Up The Girl For 'Last Song,' Eat Cereal In Sand Trap

Even the most heartbroken among us would benefit from distancing themselves from the pain every once in a while. For Tyson Ritter, a reprieve from his songwriting muse helped make “The Last Song” such a pleasure to pen. “I got inspired to write something that wasn’t about an all-girl topic,” the All-American Rejects singer/bassist said. “Every other song [on the band’s self-titled debut] is about one girl, so to put a song on the album that wasn’t about her, that made it a little extra special.” The second single off The All-American Rejects is one of Ritter’s favorite tracks, inspirational… Read more »

Fornicating Webmaster Sent Packing – Autopilot Off’s Webmaster Fired

A concerned parent’s call alerted Island Record staff to the online antics of Autopilot Off’s webmaster, Josh Stern. Apparently, Mr. Stern was observed on the band’s webcam having sex with a large, stuffed SpongeBob doll. Autopilot Off entered the studio last month to record their major record debut for Island Records with producer Greig Nori. To help bring their fans into the process, the band set up a webcam where visitors could watch the band members recording the new album, playing video games, or just lounging around. Last week, a parent came across Autopilot Off’s web site and observed the… Read more »
