Those walking into Webster Hall’s studio room for The Bring Me Home tour were caught off guard by what was going on around them. Fans were marked with a Closure in Moscow stamp, a cat roamed the venue freely and bands’ equipment was left astray and unguarded. Not to mention it was one o’clock in the afternoon, a time when most of those attending could have just as easily been sleeping.
Vans Warped Tour kicks off its 15th year of rocking up summer in Pomona, Calif. on June 26, and this year Fearless Records has four acts heading out for two months of punk rock mayhem. The Maine continues a killer year with a headlining slot on The Hurley Stage, while both A Skylit Drive and Breathe Carolina will play the entire tour on the SmartPunk Stage. The Warped Tour, the annual traveling festival that targets the Vans-wearing, emo-loving youth of America, has recently announced the lineup for their 2009 caravan. As usual (and because the event is celebrating its 15th anniversary), the lineup combines older acts like NOFX, Less Than Jake and Bad Religion with newer artists like 3OH!3 and Black Tide. Universal Motown Records’ artist, Forever The Sickest Kids, announced new US tour dates today. Co-headlining with Metro Station, the band will cross from New York to their home state of Texas. The debut album from Forever The Sickest Kids, entitled Underdog Alma Mater, will be released on April 29th. The six man band has been touring the U.S. successfully and building a fanbase from the grass roots up. Drive-Thru Records is proud to announce New York quintet, Steel Train, are currently finishing up work on their ambitious sophomore album. Set for an October 2007 release, the still untitled album is being produced by Mark Trombino (Rilo Kiley, Jimmy Eat World). When an event has been around for 13 years, it’s usually time to shake things up. And while Ozzfest chose to do that by going free, the Vans Warped tour opted to piece together one of its most diverse rosters to date. This summer, Yellowcard’s Ben Harper was looking to sign some new acts to his fledgling label, Takeover Records. There was only one problem: Being the guitar player in a successful rock band does not necessarily afford one the time necessary to check out up-and-coming acts at tiny clubs.
