Living Like Ghosts has made a big but potentially necessary move in its hunt for rock stardom: the jettisoning of two members, including a third guitarist, from its lineup. It would be hard for any band to justify a six-string attack, and the now four-piece group from Detroit is free to roam the country in a much roomier tour van and spread its shiny pop rock tunes to audiences near and far.

Fall Out Boy got political at their Mesa, Arizona “Believers Never Die, Part Deux” tour opener Friday night, taking the stage in dress suits and black eyes – and in frontman Patrick Stump’s case, a grey Donald Trump-like wig – as a commentary on the current state of corporate America. Just what exactly does Barbadian R&B pop queen Rihanna have to do with the Super Bowl? About as much as Fall Out Boy. Yet there both acts were, playing to a hyped-up crowd on Thursday night at Tampa’s Ford Amphitheater for the VH1-broadcast Pepsi Super Bowl Smash show that served as the unofficial kickoff of Super Bowl XLIII weekend. Fall Out Boy have become the latest rockers to take on the iconic Simpsons theme for an episode of the animated series.
