SNL Hires Then Fires Bigot Disguised As A Comedian SNL has been accused of partaking in “cancel culture” for firing a newly hired cast member, Shane Gillis, after videos of racist conversations and bigoted podcasts came to light. In these, Gillis and another less than memorable guy hold conversations where they both contribute their racist and homophobic ideas. Saturday, August 31, The Pixies and The Cure will share the stage again for the first time in 30 years at the Daydream Festival in Pasadena, CA. The Cure are throwing the festival to commemorate their 40 year musical anniversary. The festival will take place at the Rose Bowl with 10 bands, namely Deftones, Mogwai, The Joy Formidable, Throwing Muses, Chelsea Wolfe, The Twilight Sad, Emma Ruth Rundle, and Kælan Mikla. Tool has announced a release date for their new album. The band finally became available on Spotify after years of their fans being digitally deprived. Looks like the streaming platform upgrade comes just in time for new music. Since the release of 10,000 days in 2006 rock fans have been waiting for more Tool. August 30th the wait is over. During the band’s May 7th show in Birmingham Alabama they made the announcement and encouraged show goers to share through social media. With songs like “Invincible” and “Descending” from their Welcome to Rockville set, we are eager to hear more.
Much like Alan Moore with Watchmen, Way has taken the very basic idea of superpowered humans—like those many of us have loved for decades—and delved much deeper into the humanity of it all.
