Take Notice upbeat despite singer’s departure

WESTLAND, Mich. – Since forming less than two years ago, working to solidify a stable lineup, releasing a debut EP on I Surrender records, gracing the pages of Alternative Press magazine and most recently, losing a singer, Detroit-based pop-punk outfit Take Notice has gone through a lot. Despite it all, the band maintains a positive outlook on the future.

Ashlee and Pete's gay marriage portrait

Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz are keeping their mouths shut for gay marriage. The couple are the latest celebs to take part in NOH8, a campaign supporting efforts to overturn Proposition 8. They were shot by photographer Adam Bouska on Monday with the campaign’s signature look: “NOH8” painted on their cheeks and duct tape over their mouths as a symbol of the pro-gay voices not being heard. Ashlee also holds a wedding veil in the pic. Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus also posed for NOH8 Like the Wentzes, Hoppus took part in the big Hollywood rally and protest shortly after the California… Read more »

Lady Gaga’s cinematic “Paparazzi” video hits the web

“Stop leaking my motherfucking videos,” Lady Gaga yelled from her Twitter after her newest video for “Paparazzi” found its way onto blogs earlier than expected. Given the “November Rain”-esque scale of Gaga’s epic new eight-minute-long short film, the “Paparazzi” video warranted more than just a simple leak; it deserved a red carpet. The film casts Gaga as a starlet in the midst of a tumultuous, abusive love affair with her star boyfriend, played by Generation Kill breakout star and True Blood vampire lord Alexander Skarsgard. After a sumptuously shot makeout scene complete with Swedish dialogue, Gaga is thrown off a… Read more »

Green Day rips into 'Breakdown,' fan favorites at NYC show

Green Day is continuing their march to an inevitable Number One album, setting up rock-opera shop at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom on May 18th for the East Coast live debut of 21st Century Breakdown. The band’s Bay Area guerilla gigs in April all featured the record in its entirety. But at the Bowery, Green Day played a pocket-jukebox edition of the album, starting with the opening title track and the first single, “Know Your Enemy.” Then the new six-piece band – with singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool assisted on guitars, keyboards and extra… Read more »

Are Paramore the new No Doubt?

I’m about to make a fairly simple comparison seem unnecessarily complex, but the situation demands it. So here it goes: Paramore are the new No Doubt. To do this to any other way would be lazy, not to mention a tad bit insulting. But in this case, there is one glaring similarity between both bands: the dynamic, iconic frontwoman who also doubles as the media focal point. In essence, Hayley Williams and Gwen Stefani are covered the same and contextualized the same. Yes, they’re both pretty girls with dye jobs who are showing the guys how it’s done and are… Read more »
