This past weekend’s Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee was marked with great performances, a friendly long-distance exchange between Post Malone and country music’s legendary singer Dolly Parton, and sadly, a death. On Saturday, a 27-year-old man with an underlying medical condition became unresponsive while attending the festival, having been camping with his father overnight at the event. The medical team was quick to arrive and attend to the man but he later passed at a local hospital. Indie heavyweights Nettwerk, INgrooves, IRIS Distribution, RoyaltyShare and Wind-up have all signed deals to have their music featured and sold on MySpace Music. Indie aggregators The Orchard and IODA signed on several months ago. Today’s announcement leaves Merlin and its supporters including Koch and Beggars as the last large indie holdouts. The 9:30 Club just hit the trifecta, winning the top three national awards for nightclubs in as many months. The latest: the 9:30 Club has been named Nightclub of the Year by the POLLSTAR Concert Industry Awards. Hannah Montana fans are getting the best of both worlds, leaving the less entertaining aspects to the show’s lawyers and publicists. A lawsuit brought against the Disney Channel by an award-winning comedy writer who claims he pitched the original idea for Hannah Montana and was never compensated for his efforts was referred Friday to mediation in the hope that the two sides can cut a deal. Buddy Sheffield sued parent company ABC Cable Networks Group on Aug. 23, alleging breach of implied contract, breach of confidence, unfair competition and unjust enrichment.
