Grizzly Bear sinks claws into new songs


Last year the Brooklyn-based quartet Grizzly Bear went on the road for a two-week East Coast tour as the opening act for Radiohead. This time around, the indie rock band is aiming just as high — hoping to arrange a collaboration with none other than rapper Snoop Dogg. MUTEMATH to Perform New Song on The Tonight Show


New Orleans-based eclectic/innovative rock quartet MUTEMATH has confirmed an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this Thursday Jan. 15, 2009. The Grammy-nominated band will perform a brand new song entitled, “Spotlight,” from the chart-topping Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, TWILIGHT, based on the Stephanie Meyers book which has become an international phenomenon. The soundtrack to the movie was released this past Nov. 4, 2008. The critically-acclaimed band are currently in the studio recording their 2nd Teleprompt/Warner Bros. Records album. Prince to headline Coachella festival


Prince will headline the ninth annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, festival promoters announced Wednesday. The Purple One will be the featured act on day two of the giant summer music festival, a three-day affair that runs April 25-27 in Indio, Calif. He joins a lineup that includes Jack Johnson and Roger Waters, the former Pink Floyd singer-songwriter who will close the festival. Also slated to perform: the Raconteurs, Kraftwerk, Portishead, My Morning Jacket, M.I.A., Death Cab for Cutie and the Verve, among others.

N.E.R.D debut new music in Austin, Texas


N.E.R.D.’s new single “Everybody Nose,” which depicts a club-hopper’s drug use, could be the theme song for out-of-control party girls on the celebrity circuit. But frontman Pharrell Williams says the song is not chastising people for their questionable habits. “The message is just making an observation. It’s not us condoning or glorifying it or talking about people who do it,” the superproducer told “Everybody Nose” is the first new music from the eclectic trio in years. Earth Day music festival expands to 8 cities


The 2008 Green Apple Festival won’t “change the world,” Green Apple founder/executive producer Peter Shapiro says, but this year’s third installment of the event will expand from three locations to eight U.S. city parks for simultaneous outdoor festivals on April 20.
