Legendary rock band, Fall Out Boy have treated fans to a modernized take on the Billy Joel classic, “We Didn’t Start The Fire” today. The original was a smash hit in 1989, spitting out a rapid-fire mixture of historical references to the boomer era. It was a lengthy montage of all relevant things, good and bad. Everything from pop culture to political references were strewn throughout the verses and broken up with an explosive chorus. It’s been nearly 35 years since Billy Joel’s version. Honestly, one of my favorite singer songwriters has been Andrew McMahon. Being at Drive Thru Records and hearing original SoCo demo’s I was blown away – I remember the early comparisons we used to say relating SoCo to Billy Joel with a rock indie feel to it. Since then, Andrew has worked his ass off – devoting his DIY attitude and non-stop touring and his many music endeavors to have a permanent fixture in the music industry.   I was blessed and honored to speak with him so give it a listen and support his new EP!

In true Las Vegas fashion, Sin City will usher in the New Year with “Tribute Palooza,” a concert featuring performances by David Bowie, the Eagles, U2, Kiss, the Rolling Stones, Queen, Aerosmith and Billy Joel… impersonators. 2U will substitute for U2, Queen Nation will copycat Freddie Mercury, Aeromyth will channel Aerosmith, the Long Run will welcome you to the Hotel California and much, much more. Unfortunately, despite the presence of not one but two KISS cover bands, neither act is the Rock Daily faves Mini-KISS. The whole fake fest party will go down at Vegas’ infamously tented Fremont Street, where… Read more »

Gavin DeGraw doesn't wanna be another singer-songwriter

The term “singer-songwriter” makes Gavin DeGraw cringe. “It makes you feel like a weakling the way all the singer songwriters are marketed, you know what I mean? … It’s not masculine enough for me. I don’t feel like I fall into that category in a lot of ways,” he said about his “typecasted genre.” Maybe it’s because he was seen as the sensitive songwriter dude that the gregarious 31-year-old is anxious to break out of that mold. DeGraw – who sings, writes his own songs and plays multiple instruments – debuted his skills as a pop artist on his 2003… Read more »
