Friday night’s episode of “The Tonight Show” was Conan O’Brien’s final one after only seven months behind the desk. Tom Hanks, Steve Carell, and Will Ferrell are just a few of the stars who showed up to bid farewell to the late-night host.
Conan O’Brien signed a $45 million deal to leave NBC after refusing to host the “Tonight Show†in a later time period, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Jay Leno will return as host on March 1, NBC said.
One year after he was crowned “American Idol” champion, David Cook returned to the big blue stage last Wednesday night for charity. Cook performed a version of his song “Permanent,” which was made available on the iTunes Music Store immediately following his appearance, with all proceeds going to Accelerate Brain Trust Cure, a charity dedicated to finding a cure for brain cancer. It is a cause that hits close to home for Cook, who earlier this month lost his brother Adam to brain cancer after a decade-long battle with the disease. No matter who is crowned the next American Idol on Wednesday night, season eight has already been one for the books. New Orleans-based eclectic/innovative rock quartet MUTEMATH has confirmed an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this Thursday Jan. 15, 2009. The Grammy-nominated band will perform a brand new song entitled, “Spotlight,” from the chart-topping Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, TWILIGHT, based on the Stephanie Meyers book which has become an international phenomenon. The Recording Academy has asked its members to sign a petition urging the Writers Guild of America to accept an agreement that would grant a waiver for writers to work on the upcoming Grammys, The fate of the Feb. 10 telecast was put in doubt after the WGA announced that it was unlikely to grant a waiver for music’s biggest night. Pop super star Christina Aguilera, 27, has finally given birth to a healthy baby boy.According to the singer’s website, the baby was born on Saturday night and weighed 6 pounds 2 ounces and measured 20.5 inches. The web site’s announcement aid, “Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman are proud to announce the birth of their son Max Liron Bratman. He is a beautiful, healthy baby boy.” Bratman, 30, and Aguilera have been together and married since 2005 and this is the first child for the happy couple.
