The Jagermeister Fall Music Tour is coming, and heavy metal icons, Slayer, will lead the assault! Produced and promoted by Clear Channel Entertainment, the tour will let loose on October 8th in Minneapolis, MN and finish up in Los Angeles on November 29th. Slayer’s recent release of their live DVD, War at the Warfield (American Recordings/UME), debuted at #3 on the Billboard charts in its first week. Ozzy crooned, mooned and squirted his water guns, Disturbed bellowed, and Marilyn Manson vamped it up, but Ozzfest has always been just as much about the lesser-known acts, and Sunday’s show was no exception. Though bands like Kilgore, Pushmonkey and the perhaps aptly named No One have proven that Ozzfest exposure alone won’t make you famous, second-stage alumni System of a Down and Slipknot can attest that it certainly doesn’t hurt. Tommy Lee and MCA Records have parted ways. A spokesperson for Lee declined comment on the split. Lee said that with MCA’s support or not, he will continue to make music. “I sometimes think that if somebody took music away from me, I would probably die. I would absolutely f-kin’ die. Every room you walk into in my home there’s a piano, there’s a guitar, there’s equipment everywhere. This is what I do. I think I was put on this planet to do this,” he said. Many fans credit Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger and his songs with helping them get through tough times. Tyler Connolly, frontman of Theory of a Deadman, has Kroeger to thank for just about everything. Before Nickelback were rock stars, Connolly was a struggling musician without a band, manager or record deal and with only a pipe dream of ever being recognized outside his hometown of Vancouver, Canada. Florida rockers, Neurotica, have jumped to the main stage on the August 3rd Ozzfest date at the Polaris Amphitheatre in Columbus, OH. The band will kick things off at 5pm. Audience reaction to Neurotica’s blistering set has been so intense that a few weeks ago tour organizers bumped up the band’s performance to a later, more desirable timeslot on the second stage.
