When the Silversun Pickups were writing “Swoon,” the follow-up to their breakout “Carnavas” album, they were given access to parts of the universe where mere mortals dare not tread. Coachella’s indie roots will be watered down with classic rock this year. Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters has been tapped for the festival’s closing slot, performing the band’s 1973 opus, Dark Side of the Moon, in its entirety, organizers announced. Los Angeles – Saturday night’s double shot of pop-punk bands Good Charlotte and Sum 41 at the Universal Amphitheater may have been kids’ stuff, but there were plenty of ’em there for it. Taking the closing spot, Good Charlotte was clearly the bigger draw. Screams from the teen and pre-teen girls told the story. Veteran U.K. rock outfit Primal Scream has set a Nov. 26 North American release date for its domestic Epic debut, “Evil Heat.” The album, which features contributions from Robert Plant, Kate Moss, My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields, and the Jesus And Mary Chain’s Jim Reid, was released in August in the group’s homeland. The North American release of “Evil Heat” will be accompanied by a DVD featuring 45 minutes of bonus material. The past two years have been a turbo-charged merry-go-round for Maryland punk-pop group Good Charlotte.
