Iconic dark-pop star, Poppy has unveiled the details of her forthcoming album Zig today. The new album is set to release October 27th via Sumerian Records. Supporting the announcement of the new project, Poppy dropped a brand new song, “Knockoff” as well. This surrealist alt-pop track comes as the second teaser from Zig, following “Church Outfit” that dropped in April of this year. Artemis Records chairman/CEO Danny Goldberg is leaving the independent label he founded in 1999 due to what sources said Wednesday were “philosophical differences” with its owners. Artemis president Daniel Glass has been elevated to president/CEO of the label, which is the home of such acts as Steve Earle, Pretenders, Kittie and the late Warren Zevon. New Artemis releases from Better Than Ezra, Black Label Society and bluesman Hubert Sumlin are due soon. Goldberg will continue as a consultant. Thrash metal bands from the early ’80s and beyond are the subject of a new documentary called Get Thrashed, which should be released before the end of the year. According to Rollingstone.com, Metallica, Godsmack, Disturbed, Anthrax, Slipknot, Kittie, Meshuggah are among the bands profiled by director Rick Ernst for the film which explores the early thrash metal scene and its subsequent impact.
