Saturday, August 31, The Pixies and The Cure will share the stage again for the first time in 30 years at the Daydream Festival in Pasadena, CA. The Cure are throwing the festival to commemorate their 40 year musical anniversary. The festival will take place at the Rose Bowl with 10 bands, namely Deftones, Mogwai, The Joy Formidable, Throwing Muses, Chelsea Wolfe, The Twilight Sad, Emma Ruth Rundle, and Kælan Mikla. With the Vans Warped Tour 25th anniversary shows and genre sensation blink–182 touring the 20th anniversary of their “Enema of the state” album a massive pop-punk revival is underway. America’s 44th President was honored over the weekend with a street naming. The new name of Rodeo road, now Barack Obama Boulevard, in the Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw area of Los Angeles, was unveiled in a ceremony Saturday. Thousands of people were in attendance to celebrate. Former President Obama held a campaign rally at the same spot just after announcing his bid for office in 2007.
