In honor of Hopeless Records turning 30, Hey Violet and Jayden Seeley (ex-With Confidence) have covered Yellowcard‘s “Hang You Up” for the label’s Hopelessly Devoted To You compilation album. The song originally appeared on Yellowcard‘s 2011 LP When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes.
The compilation will also boast The Wonder Years’ cover of Thrice’s “Deadbolt,” Point North’s cover of Avenged Sevenfold’s “Unholy Confessions,” NOAHFINNCE‘s rendition of Waterparks‘ “I Miss Having Sex But at Least I Don’t Wanna Die Anymore,” Bayside‘s reworking of The Weakerthans‘ “Aside,” and LØLØ‘s cover of New Found Glory‘s “Vicious Love.”
On Instagram, Hey Violet shared, “[V]ery grateful to be a part of Hopeless Records’ 30th anniversary with this cover we did with @jaydenseeley, which is out especially for you now. @yellowcard, thank u for being a part of my girlhood. [T]here might be a xylophone solo. maybe not. [Y]ou’ll just have to listen. we hope you love it.”
Hey Violet and Seeley crafted a euphoric cover, adding a bit of bright pop to the classic pop-punk vocals à la William Ryan Key. Check out the reimagined “Hang You Up” below.
On top of releasing the forthcoming Hopelessly Devoted To You, Hopeless Records is also hosting a major party at Cleveland’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, and you’re invited. Come out to celebrate the label’s anniversary on August 24 with Waterparks‘ Awsten Knight, Illuminati Hotties, The Wonder Years‘ Dan Campbell, and Scene Queen.
