Roe Kapara recently stopped by the idobi Radio studios to perform live acoustic sessions of his songs “Everything’s Fine(Nuke Song)“, “Everyone’s Dying(Grandma’s Drunk Again)“, and a lovely cover of Cage The Elephant’s “Cigarette Daydreams.” Afterwards, he sat down with our very own, Eddie Barella to discuss his rise to success, the release of his new EP I Hope Hell Isn’t Real, and more.
Kapara is meticulous and clever with the way he presents his music to people, particularly online. His TikTok and Instagram Reel content feels otherworldly, as if viewers are being invited into a unique universe that he has created for them. It is macabre, swaddled in bizarre imagery, surreal execution, and is entirely cinematic.
“Honestly I think a lot of times I try to think of a movie and how my music would fit to a movie. It makes sense because I use the TV a lot [in my videos] and put like shows or movies on it. I like to visualize it in my head… and I’ll think ‘yeah, that would be weird’.” He has now amassed over 500k followers across his platforms to date.

This didn’t happen for him overnight. Kapara was raised in Missouri and used to work at Domino’s and Starbucks before things really took off. He moved out to Los Angeles, quit his job, and soon took the leap into pushing his songs on the internet in hopes of pursuing a music career. After several viral videos from his song “Employment Cost” Epitaph Records reached out about signing him. “I wanted to go with an indie label because it is more personal. Epitaph is a great label and I love a lot of their artists,” he shares.
Since the release of his new EP, Kapara has dropped three new singles. “Before We Croak,” and “The Dead Come Talking,” are in true Kapara fashion. However, “Fajita!” is a more upbeat, funky track. Perhaps this is a hint to more experimentation across his sound in the future. An artist drenched in nostalgia with a modern twist, his music is carefully crafted with intense calculation and charisma. Make sure to watch the full interview, and don’t miss out on Roe Kapara.
