Back in June, we kicked off the official Summertime Sadness Bracket to figure out who wrote the official song of the summer! Our favorite Arizona band, The Maine have shared an incredible cover of “Cruel Summer” from Taylor Swift’s Lover album. The cover starts with soft, roomy guitars before pushing forward into a synth-driven chorus. John O’Callaghans vocals are somber and beautiful as always. This is a cover we never knew we needed, but are so grateful for. The Maine have also recently announced that they will be re-recording their sophomore album, Black & White. Sad Summer Festival is back for another year! The tour kicked off in Florida and the line up included Taking Back Sunday, The Maine, PVRIS, L.S. The Dangerous Summer is taking part in New Music Friday with a reimagined rendition of their song “Fuck Them All.” Originally released on their EP All That Is Left Of The Blue Sky, the new version takes the form of a lively piano ballad. Incorporating the song’s original guitar swells and AJ Perdomo’s powerful vocal performance, the stripped-down arrangement gives the lyrics more space to shine. “Fuck Them All” is about saying goodbye to the negative voices around you and taking your moment when you can. Our very own rockstar dad, Jaret Reddick, is hitting the road to share his love of country music with fans in Texas, Colorado, and Tennessee. Kicking things off in Amarillo, TX on July 14 and closing the tour in Wichita Falls, TX on August 19, the Bowling For Soup frontman is playing songs from his solo project at some pretty intimate venues.
