Black Lightning is the best superhero series pilot I’ve seen, and it’s good to see The Akils bring the same care and skill to this genre as they have with their previous work in television and film.

It’s been a few weeks since New York Comic Con and I’ve finally had time to unpack, go through all of my swag bags, and read a bunch of the comics and books I brought home. ‘Tragedy Girls’ is and isn’t what it seems to be—don’t get it twisted, it is a very good horror comedy—but like any charming psychopath the movie grabs you with its duality and its duplicity.
