On the fourth day of Christmas idobi sent a plea, please come back to us Victory

I’m not ashamed to say that I still listen to the same music that I listened to ten years ago. The only difference is that back then, most of the music I listened to came from you. What I want for Christmas is fairly simple, I’d love for you to be the go-to indie record label again. I long for the days of Taking Back Sunday, Spitalfield, The Forecast, and Thursday.

The Rocket Summer: A Comeback from a Band Who Never Left

It’s a pretty beginning of a fall afternoon when I meet up with Bryce Avery, better known as The Rocket Summer at a park in Los Angeles. After about 10 minutes of trying and failing to locate each other in the park, we finally managed to find our way. We caught up quickly after our last meeting at this summer’s APMAs, and then took a nice hike up the trails–me in heels, and him in a leather jacket–to help photographer Erica Lauren get the perfect pictures before coming back down to talk about his “not really a comeback” comeback. The… Read more »

Crooks UK Album Review: Are We All The Same Distance Apart

“Don’t you tell me this is life” In a world of “feels” Crooks UK seems to capture them all. From vocals that will make anyone swoon, to a variety of sounds as diverse as the current climate, the new album feels like winter. Are We All The Same Distance Apart speaks volumes to the mentality that somber music can still bring about happiness by combining relaxed yet aggressive vocals with chilling backing music, both acoustic and full band. It’s a refreshingly honest album boasting the seasons of anger, depression, and joy through times of struggle. While a lot of the… Read more »

MC Lars Song PREMIERE + The Story Behind The Nerdcore Superhero

Check out the exclusive track premiere of “Hipster Mom” off MC Lars’ new full-length The Zombie Dinosaur LP. It’s early on a Monday morning when I get a phone call from rapper MC Lars. There’s a scholarly greeting from the brilliant rapper who seems more prepared than ever to share his newest music with the world. The Stanford graduate turned “nerdcore” hip-hop mogul is back this November with a brand new full-length LP The Zombie Dinosaur LP. This particular album reflects a lot on his life as a rapper in his 20s and how he transitions into his goals in… Read more »
