Here we are a good 31 years after The Pixies first record, “Surfer Rosa”, and on September 13 the band will release their 7th studio album “Beneath The Eyrie”. The Pixies are required listening for anyone diving into rock music of any kind. The albums “Surfer Rosa” of 1988 and “Dolittle” of 1989 were, not the only, but 2 of the precursors of the birth of alternative rock. Martin Scorsese’s long-awaited film “The Irishman” finally arrives in select theaters and on Netflix this fall. Inspired by the book “I heard you paint houses” by Charles Brandt, the movie dives into the confession of, the hitman and one-time labor union official, Frank Sheeran who claimed to have played a part in the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa. To paint a house is a polite euphemism for the work done by a hitman, a reference to blood spatter. “Why Women Kill”, a new dark comedy created by Marc Cherry, premieres on CBS All Access Thursday, August 15. The show will be available weekly on the direct-to-consumer digital subscription video-on-demand and live streaming service. Starring Lucy Liu, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste the show follows the fall out after infidelity taking place in the same house in 3 separate decades. Marc Cherry, known for his highly addictive shows “Desperate Housewives” and “Devious Maids”, is named as executive producer along with Marc Webb who also directed the series premiere and one additional episode.
