The Ready Set to release EP, tour with Boys Like Girls

The Ready Set, brainchild of Fort Wayne, Ind.’s Jordan Witzigreuter is a one-man alternative pop band influenced by life, love and music. At 19, Witzigreuter, a recent high school graduate, is a jack of all trades; drummer, singer and keyboardist ready to lay his claim in the music world. Using the moniker The Ready Set, young Witzigreuter writes and records all his own music. Picking up his first drum sticks while in the fifth grade, by the time Witzigreuter was 14 he was a member of multiple bands, but it didn’t take long before he realized that what he really… Read more »

Oasis Start A Royal Scandal With “Falling Down” Video

Oasis are back with a new video, this time for “Falling Down,” the latest single of the band’s Dig Out Your Soul. Directed by Wiz, the video’s plot seems pretty clear, as we follow a bright-eyed, luxurious young woman from random people’s beds to random drug dens. Later on, we see the woman putting on a crown, meaning that she’s regal or something, and on a red carpet event Oasis’ Gallagher brothers both snub the woman, hinting that one or both of them got it on with a member of the Royal Family. How do we know she’s a member… Read more »

R. Kelly's nephew charged in barbershop shootout

R. Kelly’s 16-year-old nephew Brayel Kelly has been charged as an adult with attempted murder, according to authorities, after an incident in the Chicago area earlier this month in which the teen was shot. Calumet City police told MTV News that on November 6, Brayel Kelly – the son of R. Kelly’s estranged brother Carey Kelly – went into a barbershop and allegedly tried to rob the owner by producing a gun and demanding that the owner place his money and jewelry in a plastic bag. Though the owner complied, he also took out a weapon. Police said Kelly fired,… Read more »

Ashlee Simpson, Pete Wentz Welcome Baby Boy

Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson welcomed a son, Bronx Mowgli Wentz, into the world late Thursday night. Little Bronx weighed in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces, according to a statement from the couple’s publicist. “Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy,” the statement read, “and thank everyone for their well wishes!” He’s the first child for both … and his birth was, shall we say, rather anticipated. Several reports had Simpson going into labor last weekend, and though that information proved to be incorrect, Simpson was so close to delivering that Wentz opted to stay with her… Read more »

New questions about Jim Morrison's death

The official story goes like this: On the last night of Jim Morrison’s life, the rocker went to a movie in Paris, listened to records, fell ill and died of heart failure in his bathtub at the age of 27. But rumors have always swirled around the death of The Doors frontman and, 36 years later, a former Paris nightclub manager is telling a different story. In a new book, Sam Bernett says that Morrison died in a toilet stall of his club after what he believes was a heroin overdose. He writes of his shock on finding Morrison’s body:… Read more »

Fall Back Boy

Pete Wentz was treated to dinner a few months ago by Lyor Cohen, the renowned rap promoter and U.S. music chief of Warner Music Group. Wentz, 28, is the eyelinered heartthrob and bassist of punk band Fall Out Boy; but this dinner was in celebration of the hit single just released by another band, Panic! At the Disco, which records on Wentz’s own label, Decaydance. “He asked me, ‘What do you want out of life, Pete?’” Wentz says. His answer was flip: business cards. The next day he received a stack of cards listing his name and a new title:… Read more »

Punch-Out Boy: Pete Wentz's Hometown Heckler Beatdown

Lesson to all potential Fall Out Boy hecklers: If you plan on plying your craft, perhaps it’s better to do so from the relative anonymity of the arena cheap seats rather than during a private party attended by roughly 200 industry peeps and/or friends of FOB. That latter scenario is exactly what went down early Tuesday morning (June 12) at Chicago rock club Schuba’s, which hosted a Spin magazine party following Fall Out Boy’s concert at the nearby Charter One Pavilion. The band was scheduled to perform a brief acoustic set at the soiree, but thanks to one particularly aggressive… Read more »

Hip-Hop Outlaw (Industry Version)

Late in the afternoon of Jan. 16, a SWAT team from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, backed up by officers from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office and the local police department, along with a few drug-sniffing dogs, burst into a unmarked recording studio on a short, quiet street in an industrial neighborhood near the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The officers entered with their guns drawn; the local police chief said later that they were “prepared for the worst.” They had come to serve a warrant for the arrest of the studio’s owners on the grounds that they had violated the… Read more »
