After scoring a hit in 2000 with their first single, “Flavor of the Weak,” American Hi-Fi were showered with praise and press. '8 Mile' Rapper Shot, Recovering


A Detroit man who appeared in the Eminem movie “8 Mile” is recovering after being shot in the stomach on the film’s opening night. Ali Miyzaan, 26, said he was shot about 11:30 p.m. Nov. 8 in the parking lot of Phoenix Theaters, which is on Eight Mile road in Detroit. Eminem Wins Big at MTV Awards


Rapper Eminem walked off with four MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday, including one for Video of the Year, in a show bookended by rousing performances by Bruce Springsteen and a rare appearance by heavy metal rockers Guns N’ Roses. Eminem, who also won awards for Best Male Video, Best Rap Video and Best Direction, said of the “moonman” statuette that was MTV’s symbol in its early days, “I’m taking this home for rap – period.” His video “Without Me” won Video of the Year honors.
