Pete Townshend has wrapped work on the third installment in his Scoop series of demos and outtakes. The Who guitarist has sent the recordings to be mastered by Jon Astley, who co-produced Who Are You as well as several Who reissues and has also done production work for Eric Clapton. Dido, whose RIAA triple-platinum debut album NO ANGEL has just logged its 55th week on the Billboard 200 Album chart, where it remains the longest-running title inside the top 30, has embarked on her 2nd annual headlining summer tour of North America. The festival-type tour of predominately outdoor venues stars Dido, Scottish group Travis, and Icelandic songbird Emiliana Torrini on the main stage, with various others on the second stage. On Dido’s North American tour, which kicks off next week in Vancouver, she’ll offer fans a preview of her next album. Napster’s legal troubles could be about to get a whole lot worse, as thousands of music publishers could enter into a class-action suit against the file-trading company. Independent musicians, however, are still shut out of the litigation. As part of a copyright infringement case against Napster in federal district court on Tuesday, Judge Marilyn Hall said that 27,000 music publishers would likely be allowed the opportunity to consolidate their cases into one class-action suit.
