The Past // Present // Future is Female: A Conversation with Meet Me @ The Altar

It’s hard enough to make it in a competitive industry when you’re young. But if you’re also a person of color and/or part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, it can feel next to impossible. For Meet Me @ The Altar—a trio of young women of color, two of whom are queer—the only way around those industry hurdles is through them.  “We’re the perfect mesh of like almost every single type of person in the world,” says vocalist Edith Victoria. I’m catching up with the band over Zoom, the day before their debut full-length, Past // Present // Future, is set to… Read more »

Women’s History is Human History

March is Women’s History Month, hot on the heels of Black History Month. It should go without saying how important it is to take the time to highlight the invaluable contributions women have made to society and culture. It’s also true that, if I’m doing my job as an entertainment journalist properly, then I’m constantly and consistently highlighting the amazing art created by women and people of color (and oftentimes females of color), whatever month it is. OK Says Nay, but Canada Says Yay!

The nerds are back with a chaotic show for the ages. We begin by pontificating why Oklahoma said “heck no” to recreational cannabis, as they are really making a ton off of the medical market currently. We arrive at a few conclusions, and we’d love your input! We then move on to Canada and what they just legalized in Vancouver. Hint: it’s everything!

Album Review: For The Fallen Dreams – For The Fallen Dreams

“Let go of your idols to discover the unknown. When we leave this world, have to do it on our own.  Pass the torch to be born again. Searching through the discord, swallowed by your sin.” Metalcore is having somewhat of a renaissance in recent years. More and more genre-specific festivals are popping up while long-standing bands in the scene are jumping in with exciting new records. This Friday, For The Fallen Dreams put their mark on the modern era with their self-titled seventh LP. Coming from Arising Empire Records, For The Fallen Dreams boasts a classic metalcore backbone with… Read more »
