This week I have legendary pro BMX rider Rick Throne on my show, I’ve known him off and on for more than 20 years, we’ve been on the Warped Tour a handful of times together (including my first one) and I get to know Rick a little better on how he started out and got into riding! Bands covering other bands! Emo act Ben Quad has covered their label and tourmates Arm’s Length’s song, “In Loving Memory,” via Wax Bodega. The act repurposes the original song into a faster rendition, with a concoction of modern pop-punk that’s infused with original emo riffs. Sleep Theory hop on the reimagination train with their new version of their song, “Fallout.” Departing from the original nu-metalcore, hard rock sound, the act flexes their ability to be somber, yet vulnerable while still encompassing the full power of the track. A lyric video with a single lavender flower stands wavering, yet strong in front of a destroyed cityscape, which emphasizes the meaning behind the song. “Go and keep your distance/As you fall to pieces/In your toxic madness” ends the track with heartbreaking, pain-filled vocals from singer Cullen Moore. They say nobody likes you when you’re 23, but that’s not the case with jxdn. Celebrating his 23rd birthday today, February 8, the singer-songwriter has returned with his latest offering, “When The Music Stops.” Co-produced alongside blink-182’s Travis Barker and Brian Lee, “When The Music Stops” arrives via Barker’s DTA Records and is the first preview of jxdn’s sophomore album. Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival is back for its sixth year in a row, and its 2024 lineup is positively stacked. The festival teased Bad Omens as a headliner days before the official full lineup announcement, and that teaser alone was met with major excitement. Running July 19-21, the famous Inkcarceration is, of course, taking place at The Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield. YUNGBLUD, aka Dom Harrison, and Lil Yachty just shared a brand-new behind-the-scenes look for their recent track and music video, “When We Die (Can We Still Get High?).” The artists and their video crew headed into a forest and showed the structure YUNGBLUD was on to simulate a slow fall toward the leaf-covered Earth. After teasing something new on their Instagram, L.S. Dunes officially announced their forthcoming track “How Dare You.” The track will be out on all streaming platforms next week on Wednesday, February 14. Plus, the cover art also features some Valentine’s Day-themed designs by Sage LaMonica with what appears to be candy hearts spelling out the song title. You can pre-save the single here. EDM DJ Illenium isn’t a stranger to the alternative scene. During his Los Angeles, CA, shows on February 2 and 3 at SoFi Stadium, he brought out several special guests. The tour is to support his self-titled independent release, which arrived last spring. Illenium’s exploration into the alt scene isn’t unheard of. From First To Lasts’ Sonny Moore ventured into dubstep in the early 2000s, which kicked off the blurring of genres and the possibility of experimenting with different sounds. After captivating fans with the release of their latest single, “CURE,” the leading title track pulled from the four-piece’s forthcoming full-length studio album of the same name, ERRA has announced their spring U.S. tour.
