EDM DJ Illenium isn’t a stranger to the alternative scene. During his Los Angeles, CA, shows on February 2 and 3 at SoFi Stadium, he brought out several special guests. The tour is to support his self-titled independent release, which arrived last spring.

Illenium’s exploration into the alt scene isn’t unheard of. From First To Lasts’ Sonny Moore ventured into dubstep in the early 2000s, which kicked off the blurring of genres and the possibility of experimenting with different sounds.

The mother fucking princess herself, Avril Lavigne, graced the audience with her presence to perform her and Travis Barker’s song with Illenium, “Eyes Wide Shut.” Barker was unable to join the pair on stage for the performance as he’s currently overseas in Australia for blink-182’s AU tour run. Following Lavigne’s surprise performance, Sueco tapped in to perform his and the EDM artist’s collaborative track, “Story Of My Life,” which also features Trippie Redd. Absent from the gig was Grammy-nominated metal act Spiritbox, whose EDM venture with Illenium, “Shivering,” will send a cold tingle down anyone’s spine.

JXDN posted on his Twitter about coming out to perform his track, “Lifetime,” excited to be in front of an authoring 70,000-person-filled venue. Multi-genre artist Teddy Swims also hopped on stage for his collab song with Illenium, “All That Really Matters.”

Finally, to wrap up the star-studded line-up, Motionless In White vocalist Chris Motionless took to the stage to perform their single, “Nothing Ever After.” The track in question is a dubstep, metalcore mash-up that includes classic screams with sick dropped beats combined with a blend of hard techno. Fans who have seen the horrorcore act on their previous tour may have caught their performance of the song then.

What an insane two-night event for EDM and emo! We wonder who will be the next act to continue to bridge these two eccentric worlds.
