LONDON – A line up such as this is rarely seen in the UK. Brand New, Thrice and Glassjaw are three bands that have never achieved mainstream success, but each has such a following that it only made sense that they would perform at the Wembley Arena.
Gossip blogger Perez Hilton along with “American Idol” creator Simon Fuller and tour director Jamie King are searching for the next big boy band. The trio are combining forces to look for what they are billing as “The Boy Band for the Next Generation!” in an online contest.

Alberta rockers Nickelback may have picked up a leading three trophies at the MuchMusic Video Awards last night, giving music critics across the country another reason to groan, but in the end it was all about Lady Gaga’s “flaming boobies.” The critically unpopular group, who picked up three Juno Awards back in March, went into the televised street-oriented awards show – which saw thousands of fans take over the blocks surrounding MuchMusic’s Toronto Queen and John Sts. headquarters – with a leading five MMVA nods, tied with R&B Toronto newcomer Danny Fernandes. The Pixies took the stage at the Isle of Wight festival last night, marking its first gig since wrapping up its 2004 reunion tour and its subsequent festival gigs in 2007. The memo on waning Jonas Brothers mania apparently has yet to reach Lima, Peru. Riot police were called to the city’s oceanfront Marriott Hotel Sunday when more than 1,000 fans took to the streets to form a tearful, shrieking and otherwise order-be-damned welcome wagon for the Jonas Brothers. “There are thousands of fans outside the hotel,” Kevin, Nick and Joe wrote on their website. “The police were called in to control the crowd… can’t wait to meet everyone!” The feeling was apparently mutual. “We just woke up to the sounds of fans screaming downstairs outside of our hotel,” the siblings… Read more »
