Aaron Gillespie and William Beckett Announced the Tour of a Lifetime THIS is what my little teen scene heart has been waiting to hear for a long time. Aaron Gillespie decided to embark on a tour where he’ll be playing songs from both Underoath and The Almost. Basically, everything I listened to as a kid. And, he did one better by adding William Beckett to the tour, so basically, it’s my 2008 dream coming true. I don’t think I need to remind everyone how perfect he is. To add to the extreme amounts of joy we already feel, William Beckett… Read more »
Excuse the Emo Revival, But Acceptance Released a New Song If you’re a newby in this scene, the name Acceptance might not ring too many bells for you. You might have heard them on “Outlines” on All Time Low’s 2012 LP Don’t Panic. But, what you should know is that these guys released one of the best albums ever, Phantoms. It was their only full-length release, and one that marked the first generation of underground pop-punk/emo breaching the mainstream wall. Dig around for a song called “So Contagious”, because it’s perfect and probably familiar. And now, after 10 years they… Read more »
Dragon Ball is Back With A New Series and There is Nothing More Important Small secret about me… I am obsessed, obsessed, with Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and anything that involves those seven star balls, inappropriate jokes, and 14 minutes of screaming during fight sequences. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this the… Read more »
‘Future Hearts’ is an album for the fans, pure and simple—the ultimate declaration of appreciation for listeners new and old.
Forget everything you know about Danny Worsnop. With his new project, We Are Harlot, the group resurrects classic rock in their debut album, creating a style that’s rock ‘n’ roll meets 80s hair metal with a dose of alternative country rock.
I’m glad this movie exists; more movies need to be made addressing mental health issues—even if they’re comedies.
Thursday, March 19th I flew into South by Southwest this afternoon. Tonight, I strode 6th Street. amid the scene here in Austin. I felt a tension between, and within, the musicians, attendees, and the city. The dichotomy is an inclination toward indie values, opposed by the gravitation of commercialism. I realize this as I happen on IFC’s Fairgrounds, which features a music stage, interactive attractions such as a Velcro wall, and food trucks and a beer stand. It’s like a festival within a festival and it is a microcosm of SXSW. It’s an insular fantasy realm manifested by marketers and… Read more »
I Call Fives put a pop-punk twist on the 90s alt-rock gem “How’s It Going to Be” originally by Third Eye Blind this week on (Un)covered.
Timbaland’s R&B remix of OneRepublic’s “Apologize” helped the band break through to mainstream radio. Reimagined as a crisp and gritty song by Silverstein, this week’s (Un)covered looks at the rock cover recorded for Punk Goes Pop Volume 2.
