It’s the most wonderful time of year once more. Eurovision is back, and it continues to get bigger and more prominent worldwide. Though it is known as the institution that turned ABBA into superstars and showcases the wildest and weirdest creations that Europe has to offer, there is still room for some rock ‘n’ roll in the ranks. Over the years, pop has been the predominant genre in which countries project their entries. Though guitars have been making their way slowly but surely, they sometimes take the whole competition by storm. From masked monsters and nu-metal stalwarts to glam-rock superstars,… Read more »
SeeYouSpaceCowboy fans, the big day has finally arrived. The band’s 12-track Coup De Grâce is here in all its glory via Pure Noise Records. The San Diego hardcore act also dropped a new music video for “Lubricant Like Kerosene” featuring Kim Dracula. The dark, sexy video is unrelenting in its instrumentals and fearless with its hard-hitting, fiery (no pun intended) vocals—an instant classic. Frontwoman Connie Sgarbossa says of the record, “This album was a chance for us to refine some of the melodic elements we had recently introduced to the band while also playing around with all things and bringing… Read more »
Sometimes you just need to be straightforward. That’s exactly what Can’t Swim accomplishes across their new song, “No Backbone.” The track taps into a quick-paced pop-punk sound while still holding onto the New Jersey acts post-hardcore instrumentation. Singer Chris LoPorto says that the single was written quickly, but the band still went back to check their work. “Once we finished it, we went back a few times to see if we should add a part or bring more instrumentation/layers to the mix, but whatever we did seemed to take away from the song rather than add to it.” He continues,… Read more »
Dayseeker has delivered a reimagined version of their single, “Neon Grave.” The post-hardcore act is exploring the slower, acoustic side of themselves with their upcoming album, Replica. It drops on April 19 via Spinefarm and showcases how the group can maneuver between different sound spaces. Agony and loss mixed with heartbreak are prevalent in this version. It creates another level of what “Neon Grave” can convey through this reimagination of the original which generates a new dimension of sentimental meaning for vocalist Rory Rodriguez. ‘Neon Grave‘ is about my father’s battle and passing from cancer,” he explains. “Getting to reimagine… Read more »
Dayseeker releases their haunting cover of Evanescence’s song, “My Immortal.” The track will be on their upcoming acoustic album, Replica, which drops on April 19 via Spinefarm. The music video for the rendition is a homage to how stripped down from their original post-hardcore sound they’re looking to showcase to fans. Standing in a studio with vocalist Rory Rodriguez and guitarist Gino Sgambelluri, they paint a sad picture emphasizing the theme of isolated grief. When the chorus builds up, the emotional tangent Rodriguez rips into is simplistically gripping. It is a rare feat when it comes to reimagining classic works… Read more »
Post-hardcore act SeeYouSpaceCowboy has announced their new album, Coup De Grâce, set to arrive via Pure Noise Records on April 19. Today, fans have received a double-dipped taste of what to expect from the LP with two new singles, “Respite For A Tragedy” ft. iRis.EXE and “Silhouettes In Motion,” offering a peephole into this next era for the band. A music video features both songs and ushers in a vintage cabaret setting. It’s elegant, filled with glitz and sultry vocals from iRis.EXE, that grazes suddenly into a fuzzy guitar slide of dreadful events. With melodic singing fused with the intensity… Read more »
Hail The Sun has released their new single, “Secondary Worship,” via Equal Vision Records. With impressive guitar riffs that throw you back into the early 2000s metalcore scene, listeners are going to have their faces shredded off. The messaging of the track offers introspection of oneself. Frontman Donovan Melero explains that the majority of their music is about self-realization while learning to grow from past mistakes. “But it came from a darker place,” he explains. “While I haven’t mastered it, I’ve certainly gotten better at directing my energy into the places it’s better suited for. And the places I want… Read more »
GHØSTKID has announced a new album, Hollywood Suicide, and dropped the first single from the record, “FSU.” The new full-length comes out on March 22 via Century Media Records, ahead of their upcoming spring tour with Black Veil Brides, Creeper, and Dark Divine. The post-hardcore act embodies an edgy and (positively) offensive realness that hasn’t been in the scene for a bit. Dramatic make-up, masks at times, but overall, they appear like varieties of the undead, especially in the music video for the new single. All of which makes GHØSTKID stand out as new proverours in the genre. Vocalist Sebastian… Read more »
