Universal Censors Megaupload Song, Gets Branded a “Rogue Label”


Earlier today, Megaupload released a pop video featuring mainstream artists who endorse the cyberlocker service. News of the controversial Mega Song even trended on Twitter, but has now been removed from YouTube on copyright grounds by Universal Music. Kim Dotcom says that Megaupload owns everything in the video, and that the label has engaged in dirty tricks in an attempt to sabotage their successful viral campaign.

Variety loses to punk band in album cover dispute


Hollywood trade newspaper Variety has lost in its attempt to pursue a trademark claim in Delaware against the punk band The Vandals.

The case will now move to a California federal court, since Vandals bassist and lawyer Joe Escalante, who is representing the band in the lawsuit, is based in Los Angeles.

Madina Lake bassist beaten, hospitalized


Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone is in the hospital after intervening in a domestic dispute, according to the band. Nathan Leone, the band’s singer and Matthew’s brother, said that the bassist was left unconscious after trying to stop a man beating his wife in the street.

DA threatens teacher arrest over sex ed class


A district attorney is telling Juneau County schools to abandon their sex education courses, saying a new curriculum law could lead to criminal charges against teachers for contributing to the delinquency of minors.

Man charged with Dolla's murder


An Atlanta man was charged Wednesday in connection with the murder of rapper Dolla, according to a statement released by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. Aubrey Louise Berry was set to be arraigned in court, where he will answer to two counts of assault with a firearm and one count of murder. Berry, 23, allegedly encountered Dolla (Roderick Burton) in the Beverly Center in Los Angeles and, after a dispute, fatally shot the rapper.
